CURRICULUM DEVELOPER/INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGNER

Join The Loop Lab — in partnership with Huntington Theatre and YouthBuild Just A Start — to oversee the Liberty Mutual Collaborative Project and shape the future of AV Careers! Help design a scalable program and curriculum for the Professional AV Industry. Create high-quality lesson plans, instructional guides, and multimedia content to prepare learners for success. Collaborate with industry experts and ensure the curriculum reflects both industry standards and The Loop Lab’s mission of equity and diversity in media arts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Curriculum Development: Design a scalable AV curriculum aligned with industry standards. Create lesson plans, instructional guides, assessments, and hands-on activities that support workforce readiness and The Loop Lab’s mission of equity and diversity in media arts.
Instructional Design: Apply best practices to engage learners and ensure knowledge retention. Integrate interactive multimedia, culturally responsive strategies, and adaptable models for virtual, hybrid, and in-person formats.
Expert Collaboration: Work with subject-matter experts, instructors, and stakeholders to gather insights and refine curriculum content based on industry trends and feedback.
Content Creation: Develop inclusive materials, such as case studies and real-world scenarios, ensuring accessibility and diverse perspectives.
Career Pathway Development: Gather insights from YouthBuild Just a Start and The Huntington youth and alumni, as well as theater leaders, and industry employers to identify hiring needs and interests, and develop clear, robust career pathways for program graduates through targeted needs assessments and professional collaboration.
Program Scalability: Create scalable frameworks for future cohorts and partner organizations, with guidelines for program implementation across various learning environments.
Documentation and Deliverables: Provide detailed instructional guides, lesson plans, assessment rubrics, and supplementary materials to support instructors.
QUALIFICATIONS
3–5 years of curriculum development, ideally in media arts or tech industries.
Strong knowledge of AV industry trends, career pathways, and Massachusetts’ workforce training standards.
Proficiency with instructional design tools like Articulate, Canva, Adobe Suite, and familiarity with Learning Management Systems and e-learning platforms.
Expertise in culturally responsive, inclusive curriculum design and equity-focused educational frameworks.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with nonprofits, workforce development, or media arts programs.
Passion for advancing opportunities for underrepresented communities in media arts and technology.
Familiarity with theatrical applications of A/V is a plus.
Experience working with or familiarity with Opportunity Youth populations/ trauma-informed programming is a plus.
COMPENSATION AND WORK CONDITIONS
Hybrid/remote role with occasional in-person meetings at The Loop Lab in Cambridge, MA. This deliverables-based contract runs from December 2024 to July 1, 2025 and offers $12,000–$16,000, depending on experience and quality of work, with flexibility to meet project deadlines.
